The lever action one is real neat. The other one is a 50 cal shell with a twist pen.
Started doing some pens. Here is a sample.
The lever action one is real neat. The other one is a 50 cal shell with a twist pen. Redtail Hawk 2/3rd life size, for now. Now that the War Eagle Seminar class is over I can get back to "old" projects. Finely getting down to seeing what it will look like. Need to use Kulis Karvet to fill in around the tail insert and when I finish painting and inserting the full wing. Eyes need shaping to size yet and insert glass eyes. Lot of work to go. Will re-carve the wing tip insert, too short and not quite wide enough. I probably already have over 100 hours and already see some areas I need to improve on. Wing looks too large even though it is to size of the body. Then on to the habitat with a Texas horn toad hiding under a drift wood piece. Ah, Maybe, no end in site. The next one will be better, I hope! For thous that are close to Northwest Arkansas, we have a pair of excellent instructors.....
Janet and Adina, sisters. They teach classes on top of the Boston Mountains several times a year. Call Janet to get the accurate times and see if the classes are full. 479.442.7963 Or check their web sites for a quick look and see. http://www.janetcordell.com/seminars.html http://www.adinahuckins.com/seminars.html The weather is real nice now, temps in the 60's on the mountain and the fall color is peaking in a week. In spite of the drought we are having a nice show of color. Adina also teaches at the War Eagle Woodcarving Seminar each September at the Benton County Fairgrounds. http://wareaglewoodcarvingseminar.weebly.com/ Janet teaches at the one in Springfield in March. Another exciting time to meet fellow carvers and get some great instruction from a variety of teachers. For those of you that need a new challenge here is a web site that has just that.
http://www.woodsymphony.com/home_page.html The site is not too user friendly so you need to click on several places to get some of the pictures to open. Picture below is from that site.
