Stan's carving class is just going great. Here are a couple of the solders that Stan has been helping with. There are several varaitions of this theme. If you want to carve one just drop in. We still have some of the cutouts for a $2.00 donation to the coffee fund. Come on down and carve, we are having from 10 to 15 each Tuesday and about the same on Sundays. Several have had a varation, making a cowboy is one. Stan will help you make just about any style you want.
I went to Hobbs yesterday morning. What a great day to walk the trails and see some wild flowers. Missed some by about 2 weeks, some had aready set seed caps. They say that everything is about 4 weeks early this year. But I had a good day for sure. Still will be some flowers comming on, Red Buds are fantastic this year out there. Trees are just full of blooms. Dogwoods should come on in another week or so. I had hopped to get a shot of the slipper flowers but may have missed them again this year.
If you want a leasurer walk take the Van Winkle trails, The Shaddok trail is a little more stranious but has more flowers on it. We finished up the turn class on Sunday. Had a great time, wish more had taken the class. Here are a couple of pictures. We built up the shell base with calking, added broken shells, and some special interest shells and sea glass bits. Added 50/50 white glue to hold it in place, added sand and gluemix, then on to carving the bird, texturing with stoning and final wood burning of feathers, Painting was completed Sunday. 5 days compressed into 3 days was quite a challenge. I forgot to take finished pictures but will add to post later with mine.
