Thanks to all that attended, we all had a good time, A little cool but really a nice sunny day. I think that the count was over 25 carvers, we missed several of you that were coming. Great lunch at the Back Porch Café, I had a burger and naturally the famous carrot cake. Heard that the coconut cream pie was to kill for good. Har-Ber has made several changes and additions. A yarn store and weaving demonstrations, even a spinning wheel demonstration. A nice one day trip. Oh Yes, I was there too but no one took my picture . Many of you are probably familiar with Susan Irish and Carving Patterns web site.
www.CarvingPatterns.com She now has a blog site where she shares many different techniques on carving and wood burning. Check it out, I am sure you will enjoy the knowledge she shares. http://lsirish.com/ .The website as of 2012 offers more than 2500 pattern in various subject categories, including North American Wildlife, Celtic Knots, Dragons and Mythological Beasts, Nautical and Sea Life, and many more. Lora continues to provide new patterns and new inspiration to many artists. This is another great source of ideas to build on. Cheers! Just returned from FL and OK trip. Very long one but really enjoyed visit with family and old friends. Wedding in FL then on to OK for a class reunion, class of 59, gee folks are looking older each time we go back, including me. Over 3,000 miles over some really bad roads. Construction everywhere. Several really bad delays one we went 15 miles in 2 hours, wreck! Major construction in Dallas.
Had an opportunity to walk some of the creek that I spent a lot of time with a buddy exploring and camping out on. Everything has changed so in 70 years but we can still remember the good times and places. Extreamly dry, the creek had weeds growing in it, no water at all, nor mud even. Never saw it that way before. Well now it is on to compleating the lizzard. I will post some fresh pictures of the burning and paint process later this week. Just trying to catch up now. |
