It is how one project leads to another one. I started setting up to try and do the Triple Whighthead dodecahedron from the book "Woodcarving Magic". In laying out the pattern, I noticed the nice grain pattern in the butternut as I shaped it to glue the patterns in place. Always looking for a interesting base for my birds I made another one and sanded it supper smooth and using Poly wipe-on finish, I put 7 coats, sanding between with 220 sand paper and then 0000 steel wool. Turned out pretty good so, I cut another one from Ozark black walnut 6x6. Looks nice. Now to do a bird and habitat to fit it. Time for another Carve-In at Foxfire Rogers. May16,2015 Saturday 9 to 4.
